This is for you.
This is for your beliefs and your ideals
and may you keep faith with them.
This is for love
and joy
and mirth
and happiness
and everything else that makes you smile
because it's really for you.

Tash Aw: The Harmony Silk Factory
Rings a chord of memory of growing up in Malaya, familiar stories told by my father and mother. Sad, frustrating, earthed.
Julian Barnes: Arthur & George
A brilliantly written, sometimes frustrating mystery novel. Frustrating because the racism desplayed is so "normal" but aching so that you want to scream "enough" and put the book away but you are compelled to read it all.
A C Grayling: The Mystery of Things
Such a collection of essays on subjects ranging from Art to Goethe to Archaeology, all in the context of human genius and within the (general) borders of philosophy
Michael E. Gerber: E-Myth Mastery
I read "The E-Myth Revisited" years ago when I was building my first business. As I developed my own concepts to use in business consulting I drew on many of the concepts originally espoused in that book. Now as I build my second business I read this new book with an interest to see if it takes me further again.
Amy Tan: Saving Fish From Drowning
My favourite overseas Chinese author. I'm a great fan of The Kitchen God's Wife and The Joy Luck Club and the way she catches Overseas Chinese families' nuances, accents and lives
Kevin Keeffe: Paddy's Road: Life Stories of Patrick Dodson
An emotional read, particularly as Pat is a friend. I'm proud to have a signed personal message in my copy
J.R.R. Tolkien: The Lord of the Rings
My 26th Annual Reading. Since introduced to it by Jane in High School I have read it every year, and watched the trilogy of movies about as many times since they came out!
